Gift(s)
Forgetting (a very rare, possibly unique, Gift that causes people to forget what he looks like soon after he leaves their presence even to the point where, over a few days, gender becomes blurred, and over a period of a few weeks they may forget that he was even there all together, creating a rather disturbing memory lapse [Heralds with mental shielding against mind reading and such are not affected by this, nor are Companions, or anyone else with mental shielding]), Moderate MindSpeech (though he has good range, most thoughts coming from unshielded minds are muffled and very loud, so he very seldom uses his Mind-Speech for anything other than speaking with Shan and fellow Heralds)
Title:
Herald

Shan
Eye Color:
Green

Black
Description/Personality:
Vale is just as enigmatic at his Gift makes him. He is more a man of action and thought than a man of words. When he does speak, it is when something needs to be said. He is, however, a master at beating around the bush and can tie someone up in their own words fairly quickly when he feels that it is nessecary. On a slightly different note, though, he will often talk with those that he considers friends fairly freely. He does, however, have a habit of dressing as something other than a Hearld, such as a trainee, a Guard, or just a normal person, and going out totown if he feels that he needs to indulge in anything (which is fairly rarley). When he does associate with people, he only ever attempts to form lasting friendships with other Heralds, as they're the only ones that will actually remember him. Vale's appearence is only abnormal in how incredibly normal he looks. Heis an average height, eyes are average in color, his hair is an average black and at an average length, and his Whites are always done in the cutthat the majority of Heralds favour, as are his clothes. He is a masterof diguise and espionage now, and often is not dressed as a Herald, and sometimes employs dies in his hair, and bits of makeup here or there. But he really only ever does this on an assignment.
History/Background:
Vale was the son of a pair of clothing merchants in a small town about two days ride from Haven. His younger years werefairly average, and he had no inkling of his Gifts. His father trained him to take up his proffession, and Vale found that he had a talent for negotiations. His life was going pretty well. That is, until his father took him for their annual sojourn to the market in Haven when he was 13. He had noticed latley that his parents had begun to become a bit senile, at least around him. They forgot where he was, sometimes even forgot hisname. He had also begun to hear strange voices that he couldn't quite explain. Fearing that he might be going mad, he said nothing, not at all for a second thinking that these might be latent Gifts in their early stages. While at the market, he became seperated from his father, and the strangest thing happened. People he had known for years no longer remembered who he was. And the voices in his head were growing louder, drowning everything else out. He did the only thing that made sense then: he ran like hell until the voices quited down. He quickly became lost in the windingstreets of Haven and sunk to the ground in exhaustian, burying his head in his arms. But at least the voices stopped. He couldn't understand it, why had everyone forgotten him? It didn't make any sense. That was when he heard the voice, it was crystal clear, where all the others where cloudy and muffled, but still loud. It said "I Choose you. You shall never be forgotten again." Looking up, Vale found himself looking into a pair of huge, perfect blue eyes. That was when he was Chosen. His Companion, Shan, quickly bore him back to the palace, where he was presented to the first Herald they found near the Collegium. There his training began as normal for a Herald, until he was presented to the Queen for a reason that became apparent to his teachers: his ability to be forgotten would be incredibly useful in information gathering and espionage. His training was immediatly changed. It soon became learning skills such as disguise, stealthy movement, training in light weapons like short swords and daggers, and some very goodacting lessons. He only recently came out of his extended training in the last two years and had already been put to work. The knowledge of his existence was kept from the public knowledge, his true purpose made known only to the Heraldic Circle. Among most normal Hearlds, they don't even know about his Forgetting Gift. They think him only a fairly proficient Mind-Speaker. And very few non-Heralds would remember him anyway, so his existence to the outside world is minimal knowledge (his family has by now completley forgotten that he existed, though he is sad that they will forever be left with the mystery of his room and personal possessions). When Queen Elspeth died, the information on Vale was passed on to Randale. There are only a few actualy documentations on his existence, and eventhen just to make sure that the Circle never forgets about him. Mostly his missions involve obtaining information on important current events that might not otherwise reach the ears. Even at his young age hehas become a shadow, a spy, the ultimate gatherer of covert information. The servants around the palace don't even really remember that he exists. He finds a bit of humor in this; even to palace servants he is an enigma, often just refered to as "that polite and quiet Herald" while they actually remember him.
