Description/Personality: Only about 5'2" and a hundred-ten pounds, Aezilark seems so small that she could be blown away by the wind. Fortunately, working on a farm most of her life has made her stronger than she would have been otherwise, and that strength will certainly come in handy when she begins weapons training at Haven!
Aezilark, or Lark as she is commonly called, is a bright, perky young girl with a sparkling personality. Almost never mad except when pushed too far, she is usually smiling and laughing at everything (which makes her awful in anything involving staying quiet!). She tries her hardest to be polite and courteous to everyone, and would never hurt any animal, sentinent or otherwise, purposely. Underneath her happy exterior, though, is a deeper wish just to be happy her whole life and a slight shyness that she covers up with bold actions and a quick wit. She can take insults or criticism pretty well, but some things, things that really hurt her inside, haunt her and make her slightly self-concious. Nevertheless, she doesn't let anyone know this and continues on her inner quest to be perfectly happy.
Strangely enough, Lark, as she will find out at the Collegium, has the gifts of Firestarting and Farsight- a combination that will make her valuable in battles and spook her slightly with the power she can control. Since there haven't been any big dissapointments in her life thus far, neither of those two are active (not even the Firestarting, lucky for her), but her Mindspeech has begun to develop a bit- she's been hearing the loud thoughts people are thinking to themselves (usually in anger) when they're within a few feet of her.
True to her nickname, Lark has a lovely voice, but not even a touch of the Bardic gift. More of a second soprano/alto than a soprano who can sing notes that hurt the ears, she is always willing to sing to entertain others or just to cheer herself up.
History/Background: Aezilark's cheery personality has most definately been influenced by her past. Born the second child to Karame (mother) and Clianre (father) on a small farm outside Haven, she grew up farming and not doing much else. She taught herself to read as best she could, finding simple books in her parents small "library" (really it's just about 10 books shoved onto a shelf) and getting assistance from her older brother when she needed it. She is still a very slow reader (she can understand the labels on the seeds for planting well), but has almost no idea how to write. Three more brothers, two sisters, and a whole lot of years later, Lark was riding out to check on her private little garden a ways away from the house when bell-like tones and the gentle chiming of actual bells began to draw her attention, and she looked up to see the most beautiful horse she had ever seen trotting calmly towards her. Her current mount, being a shy and excitable young mare, whinnied, reared, and dumped Aezilark off her back in one motion, leaving the young farmgirl looking up into the blue eyes of a white 'horse.' :You!: a voice said into her mind, sounding excited. :It is You! You are the one that I have been searching for! I Choose you! I am Kaliai, you are my Chosen, and we will always be together in the greatest happiness!: Somehow believing the male-seeming voice in her mind and knowing instinctively that the words were from the 'horse' (which didn't seem so horse-like any longer), she threw her arms around his neck. A few minutes later, she was on his back and riding home to say goodbye. The problem was that Lark had no idea what it meant to be "Chosen", or even what this "Herald" thing was- she had only read simple books involving her craft, and none of them had any mention of either (her parents had no reason to mention it, so she hadn't heard from them), but she was sure she was going to enjoy every second of it, whatever it may be!
